VENOUS

Skin lesions where the ulceration (of variable depth) of tissues is due to venous hypertension occurring in the lower extremity because of a vessel-valve dysfunction (incontinence) and/or segmental thrombosis of the deep vein system, often associated with the insufficient muscular pumping action of the calf (due to neuropathy, fibrosis, inflammatory diseases).
